Spring is in the air….finally...And as we have certainly had quite a winter, it will undoubtedly be a busy Spring for cleaning up from all the snow, downed limbs, etc.  The members of Dresden Fire/Rescue want to be sure that you take the proper steps for taking care of all the debris you have.  So if you plan to do any open burning remember that in April the Maine Forest Service will begin issuing classifications for burning each day.  This will depend on a number of factors; wind, dryness of dead materials such as grass, leaves and wood and area.  This classification is done for the benefit of not only the homeowner, but for neighboring areas and firefighter information.  Please remember that any open burning requires a permit.  As the Chief has entered into an agreement with WardensReport.com, you can access a permit online, free of charge.  We have a link on here and on Facebook to the website.  Also remember that for people who do not have access to a computer or a printer, you can still obtain a permit from one of the departments issuing agents.  They are as follows:  Chief Steve Lilly – 1112 Middle Road – 737-9434, Assistant Chief Ron Theriault – 360 Indian Road – 737-8771, Dresden EMA/FF Sonia Lilly – 1112 Middle Road – 737-9429 or Shari Lilly – 1108 Middle Road – 737-2566.  It is always a good idea for you to call first if you want to make sure permits are being issued on the day you plan to burn.  Have a wonderful and safe Spring, so you can enjoy your Summer.
